About
Does Turnip Money mean anything, or do you just really like turnips?
Well, turnips are an underrated vegetable in my opinion, but it means more than that. Turnip Money is the money you save by making the most of what you already have. For a more detailed explanation of the inspiration behind this name, see this post.
Who is this ‘Turnip’ person?
My name is Jenny Harrington. I am a professional writer and black belt tightwad. My husband and I started our life together broke. We had no assets, no cash, two kids, and barely earned $16,000 a year. This was in 2003. Over the last seven years we have paid off all our debts, saved money, purchased a home and done all of this using what I call the ‘Turnip Principal.’ The best part is we did it on our own terms and managed to make many happy memories during the tough early years.
What makes Turnip Money different from all the other frugality sites out there?
We don’t cater to middle-of-the-road tips and ideas. As long as it is ethical, no money saving strategy is too extreme. Every site out there tells you a crockpot recipe, but how many give you the tools to come up with your own recipe? Information is power, but only if you know how to use it. Turnip Money gives you the tools to use the information you are getting.
